Another Apex year is finished. It’s hard to believe that it is twelve months ago that I started as President. Personally I have learned a lot especially in chairing meetings.
Looking back I feel the loss of the paper drive was the most important thing that happened to our club for years. First of all the loss of income of about $200 per month and secondly
and maybe even more important the loss of fellowship during and after the paper drive. Not having a regular income from paper and no money from peanuts our service account doesn’t look to healthy.
In the next couple of months we should be able to build OUT shed at the railway and it is important that we find ourselves some sort of fundraising scheme.
Once again we did our fair share of service work. Some working bees were very well attended, with the weekend that we wrecked the house the most outstanding.
Despite the fact that someone tried to poison me the highlight of the social year must have been the trip to the footy and certainly worth repeating. The fishing trip combined with Kiwanis was a great idea and very successful.
So far I have covered two sides of the Apex triangle, service and fellowship, the third citizenship speaks for itself in our club. Most members in our club belong to committees and sporting organisations in our town.
The length of our meetings remains a sore point with some members happy to go for three hours and others happy to see all business handled by board.
I would like to thank all members for their support during the year especially to secretary Ray for an excellent job.
Finally I wish to congratulate Peter for being elected President
for 1983-84. I wish you well and I am sure you will get the
co—operation of the whole club.
