Social and Fellowship -
Various mixed functions were held throughout the year. The fishing trip was again the highlight with few fish, a number of casualties and some meat hungry members left lamenting.
Interclub visiting, including conventions has been very good and this makes a good basis for fellowship. We did win the attendance gavel at the District Convention.
International Relations -
In this difficult part of Apex, we held our link with Takapuna R.T.N.Z. and this year, Barry Dyer will be visiting us.
Mail contacts were difficult to maintain, as they always will be with the annual changeover of Directors on both sides of the ocean.
Mooroopna this year was the host club for the District I.R. Dinner. Membership -
Starting the year with 28 members, we at one stage reached the almost amazing figure of 35. This indeed did prove amazing and we finished with 30 members. It was pleasing to note that we have retained most of this year’s influx. Among the established…, members we lost through job transfers were Ray Spargo, Keith Harris, Tony London and George Scott.
Les Mason has reached that old age of 40 and will retire after years with our club. That OASIS club is slowly getting bigger. Conclusion -
Among the things we perhaps lacked this year was Apex Action and Education. (We had three successive Directors) and a very low emphasis on public speaking. These are really most important aspects during the average (?) members time in the Club.
Knowledge breeds confidence and these are the primary requisites of becoming part of Apex, and our Club.
My thanks to my Secretary Frank Kool who at all times has been
of the greatest assistance to me. Congratulations also for being chosen to lead our Club onto greater things next year.
Thank you to my fellow members for allowing me the privilege of being your President for the past year. It is an experience I will long remember.
I think it says a lot for Apex that whether the President may have had a good or bad year, Apex will still go on forever.
