The past twelve months has passed very quickly, but most enjoyable for me. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to lead the club and I hope you give Ray Booth the support and friendship you gave me.
Stepping into the chair twelve months ago I was a little naive about some aspects of Apex, but I can truly thank all senior active apexians for helping me out of some ditches I stumbled into. I would always look toward these fellows for sound advice which I received. Now that I have had a Presidents education,
I feel I rank with other past presidents and hopefully will give advice to new and inexperienced members.
Some members may think that some portfolios have been let down or done away with, but this is not true. For some portfolios that you have in mind have only been acted upon when need be. If you had all club portfolios functioning and me pushing them to the greatest we all would be working, eating and sleeping for Apex and have no time for our families or private life, so this year in some parts of our board has been steady as she goes.
One of the main things achieved this year in our club was becoming incorporated. This was strongly and efficiently brought by John Walton who we can thank for his efforts and now no member in our club can be sued individually.
Another event which our club conducted during the year was the diabetes blood testing on two occasions which proved very successful to our community of Mooroopna.
Another event which cannot go unnoticed was the combining
with the Kialla club for the family fun day. This was a success and from now on can only get bigger and greater.
It was only recently. .that our paper shed was burnt to the ground, yet this brought the club to a major clean-up of the debry. It was a disheartening sight yet our club sought strongly in rebuilding promptly.
It was to my great fortune that four young citizens became Apexians while I was President. I hope to see many more in Ray’s year otherwise our club may start to be on the skids.
I would like to sincerely thank all my directors for their workman ship and efforts you have put in, in this past twelve months. Thanks.
Next thanks to all the ladies for allowing your husbands to spend so much time working for and at Apex.
Two members John and Adrian have reached the ripe old age and this year they have to retire. Looking through their records in apex, these fellows rank way above high in Apex. It’s not hard to pick a good and a bad apexian these days, especially for these guys that that have been in Apex over ten years. They are absolutely terrific.
Finally if I ever had the chance of being President again in this club I would do so. I sincerely recommend it to anyone thinking about it. I have gained so much experience, plus it is the highlight of my Apex life.
Yours in Apex
GARRY BROWN.
