The following directors’ reports, have, I think, given an excellent coverage of the clubs activities.
There is little I can add, without duplicating what has already been written°
The highlights for me, as president, this year, were numerous. Looking back through the Midlanders for the year, you would
find we have had an excellent variation in programmes and guest speakers. We have had a good representation of overseas visitors as well as the
Kiwis. I think the highlight of our programmes would have been
International President-elect James Krembas active 20/30, who spoke on 20/30 U.S A.
Whilst there was no massive project undertaken by our club this year, members were involved in many service jobs, including the recent flood disaster. Apexian Jim Douglass has mentioned the gallant
effort of the Mooroopna. Fire Brigade, I would like to add to his comments in saying the people of Mooroopna and surrounding areas
combined as a community to fight this disaster. The members of our
club can be proud of being part of this community.
With the membership now at 35, our club appears very strong, but please do not let it finish there. Apexian John Campbell is the
first experienced member of many in the next 4 years to retire due to
age. We should aim at retaining our membership at a constant 35 at
least, through-out the next 4 years.
To John and Elaine Campbell, whilst your Apex life was short, your membership in the club has been one which parallels Apex membership to the highest. Congratulations John and Elaine, may your
service work to our community continue outside Apex.
This year has seen a number of changes in Apex at club level as well as District and Association level.
Since the recent re-organisation of our Association, running functions of Apex have really been stream-lined, as was intended. Whether or not anything has been lost since re-organisation one will never know.
It will be interesting to see how the new type District convention will operate in October this year. The District convention
will now be of a much greater importance than in the past. As you
know, past D.G. Bruce Tuhan was elected to the position of Zone
President for 74 – 75. It is obvious to us, Bruce’s’ capabilities,
and I am quite sure he will do a fine job.
I would like to thank Bruce for his assistance during my year
as president and apologise for leaving him last to speak at meetings when he attended. Sorry Bruce.
In finishing my year as president to the Mooroopna Apex Club, I would sincerely like to thank every member and their wives, as well as my board for making my year such a memorable one.
A very important aid to me this year was our meeting critics, and I am sure next year President Jeff will appreciate them also. Secretary Louie has been the back bone of the club, as a good secretary should be.
Thank you.
