As my term comes to a close, 1 would like to say thank you to all Members, for the privilege and honour of being President of the APEX Club of Mooroopna.
Our membership has remained at almost the same strength as it was at the start of the year, despite the fact that during the year we lost five Board Members and one floor member, You can see here just how important membership is, so I ask you all to keep this aspect of APEX foremost in your minds,
As you can see by the various reports of Directors, our activities this year have been many and varied, both on the service and the social
sides of the Club,
An important event during the year was the staging of the District
Convention at Mooroopna. The complete success of this Convention was due largely to good organising and hard work by our Members, and also the magnificent venue made available to us by Ardmona Fruit Products Co-op, Co, Ltd. Congratulations to Apexian Maurie on winning the Public Speaking at the Convention from some very talented opposition°
We have had a very good year in respect of International Relations. The Club hosted three Asian Students for three weeks. These boys were terrific fellows and we certainly had a wonderful association with them during the time that they were with us.
I.R. Director, Kevin also arranged the services of Sir Wilfrid Kent Hughes for the goodwill Dinner held with the Rotary Club of Mooroopna. Sir Wilfrid’s talk was thoroughly enjoyed by all, surely this must have been a proud moment for I.R. Director, Kevin,
Recently a Zone Seminar was held at Mooroopna together with a Zone I.R. Meeting, Among the 130 odd Apexians present were several members of Association Board. Our Club was responsible for the organisation of this important event, which proved to be very successful, with experience gained
from this Meeting and the District Convention I honestly believe that our Club could capably handle a Zone Convention here, perhaps in the next year or two,
While inter Club visiting has been very good this year, there are
still some members who have not yet attended a Convention even though the District Convention was right at the back door this year° It is through inter Club visiting and attending Conventions that help to broaden your ideas and aspects of APEX, so why not start the new APEX Year off by going to the Zone Convention in October.
My thanks to members of the Board for the co-operation I have received during the year, with a special note of thanks to Secretary, Jim, for his part.
Owing to the loss of two Public Speaking and Debating Directors during the year, this portfolio was finally handled by a floor member, many thanks to Apexian Geoff.
To incoming President Kevin, I can only say that I hope his year will be as successful and rewarding to him as this one has been to me.
